• Chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR-T cells) are genetically engineered T cells to produce recombinant T cell receptors. The chimeric receptor construct is composed of an extracellular single-chain fragment variable (scFv) derived from an antibody for the antigen-binding function and a transmembrane domain for linking to the intracellular T cell signaling domains of the T cell receptor for T cell activating function. The predominant feature of CAR-T immunotherapy is, modifying T cell to recognize cancer cells to more specifically target and kill them.
